Diary: A Year in Song

For voice and piano. Duration - 15 minutes.

This is a collection of songs written in 2020-2021, in a time of high drama and great personal change – a time of stress from pandemic isolation and political violence, but also a time of joy as I watched my baby be born and grow into a tiny person. The songs are not necessarily in order of composition. “Total Reflection” was written by my dear poet friend deep in lockdown; “Little Light” was our pregnancy announcement, while “Eleven Reasons” was written in moments of high emotion after our son’s birth. “Faults,” “Quest” and “Together” were three poems that particularly moved me in this strange time.
