"Let Me Sing" with Chicago Composers Orchestra

"Let me make songs for the people / Songs for the old and young; / Songs to stir like a battle-cry / Wherever they are sung." -Frances Ellen Watkins Harper

Friends, I would like to invite you to the premiere of Let Me Sing, a song cycle for soprano and orchestra, on October 26 in Chicago. The cycle sets poems be three incredible American poets - Djuna Barnes, Sara Teasdale and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper - who were activists and advocates at a time when their causes were dangerous to pursue, and when women and people of color were denied basic rights.

Let Me Sing was written specifically for the incredible Ariana Strahl, an old friend and supreme talent, and was commissioned by the Chicago Composers Orchestra as part of their 10th Anniversary Season. I hope you'll join us for this powerful evening! Tickets and information can be found here.

Thanks so much, and happy Fall!
Eric
